About Me

My interest in digital arts started around my junior year in high school. I had been working with more traditional art practices since middle school such as acrylic paints, charcoal, graphite, and a little bit of ceramics work. Both of my parents are in the creative industry and over the years their careers have inspired me to follow in those practices. My biggest influences in my works are sports, nature, music, friends and family. My biggest passions are in sports and music; so a lot of my work is inspired by those. I want to continue to break down the barrier between sports and art and show that they go hand in hand and when done correctly can create something truly amazing.

Once I found interest in digital arts I took it upon myself to expand my knowledge outside of my high school. I attended a design intensive program at Parsons in New York the summer after my junior year of high school. Here I learned the basic techniques for graphic design, typography, industrial design, product design, and some videography. During my junior year I found  painting teacher outside of my high school. I was unsure of training with her at first because she worked strictly with oil paints (something I had never worked with before). It turned out to be one of the most crucial moments in my artistic career. My first ever oil painting had received numerous awards. I continued painting with this teacher and excelling in oil painting, winning more awards and finally feeling like I had found my true artistic side. My knowledge I learned while oil painting helped translate into my digital work as well.

After that summer, going into my senior year, I decided that the art program at my high school was not what I was looking for. While my high school was known as a college prep school, our rival high school was known for its artist. I decided to attend AP art at my rival high school to broaden my knowledge through a new teacher. The teacher at this new school along with my oil painting teacher were the two teacher that really helped elevate my artwork. My high school teacher helped me expand my knowledge on digital arts.

In college I have found a variety of interests. The first two years of college I went back to the basics and was do a lot of fine arts again. Because of this I was able to rediscover my love for drawing with graphite and pens again. I also got to explore woodworking and metalworking which were new mediums for me but that I found extremely interesting. Coming into my junior and senior year of college I started taking digital arts classes. I was able to touch up on my skills in Digital Arts 1 but I found the most interesting in Digital Arts 2 and New Directions in Digital Arts. In these two classes I was learning whole new mediums that I had never got to use before such as VDMX, Mad Mapper, and After Effects. Despite the challenges I loved learning projection mapping. I also began to start using after effects more and teaching myself how to do neon light choreography. These classes have opened me up to some many new possibilities that I cannot wait to explore.

My main approach to my art is working on pieces that bring myself and other people happiness. I want people to be able to relate to my works but with a happy or humorous emotion attached to it. There are occasions where I like to take a look at what’s going on around me, whether it’s in my house, neighborhood, or around the world and make a piece based off what’s going on in the moment. Senior year of high school I narrowed in on oil painting more so than digital art, but still tried to integrate the two. Art has created some of the most stressful, peaceful, and humbling moments in my life. It creates a whirlwind of emotions but it helps me express a side of myself that sometimes I’m not even aware is there.
